Asbestos Removal

Over 1 million commercial, industrial, and public buildings in the UK alone contain asbestos material.

Asbestos was once thought of as a remarkable material. Naturally occurring, it had a tensile strength better than steel; it had excellent thermal and acoustic insulation; it was chemically resistant, fire resistant, an electrical insulator, and it was extremely flexible. As a result, asbestos was used extensively in the construction and engineering industries between the 1950s and 1980s in the UK.

Unfortunately, concerns about its safety grew over the years. It was discovered that when asbestos fibres became airborne, they were breathed in, lodging deep within lung tissue, and led to disease, cancer, and death. Diseases include Mesothelioma, Asbestosis, Lung cancer, Diffuse plural thickening.

According to findings by the HSE, asbestos is responsible for 4,500 deaths each year.

It might be a surprise to know that asbestos use in the construction industry was only full banned as recently as 1999. This ban made the manufacture and supply of all asbestos products illegal in the UK.

At EC1A, we provide an asbestos removal and disposal service that is second-to-none. Stringent adherence to the safest and most efficient removal practices are undertaken to ensure that all asbestos is removed and disposed of with minimal disruption to your project.
